Erina Heights Public School lacked a sheltered space for students at pick-up and drop-off times. In wet or hot weather, students could only seek shelter near the administration building which meant they had to run long distances through the rain to reach buses or parents’ vehicles. As the new designated area backed onto the oval and incorporated seating for lunch and recess, the school needed large, shaded structures that could serve two purposes – weather protection for students at drop off and pick up, and also a sheltered place to gather and eat together. With limited space and an existing slab, ramps and stairs already in place, the project required a solution that could integrate seamlessly with the current layout without extensive groundwork.
Walkwayz delivered two large, custom-engineered COLA structures built using the same high-quality Australian materials and proven system as our covered walkways. The design maximised coverage and comfort while maintaining full accessibility and aesthetic cohesion with the school’s existing facilities. Key features included:
The new structures have transformed daily operations at Erina Heights Public School. Students and staff now enjoy a functional, covered space that enhances comfort, safety and convenience. The sheltered area supports smoother and safer pick-up and drop-off transitions, while also serving as a versatile meeting and recreational zone. It achieved:
